“Having led Legal Aid NSW`s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms Hitter is well positioned to lead the organisation beyond the challenges of the past two years into the next critical phase of legal aid service delivery.” Ms Hitter said she was humbled and honoured to have the opportunity to lead Australia`s largest legal service provider and its exceptional and dedicated staff. “It`s really important that we have strong collaborative relationships with our service delivery partners so that we can provide access to legal services to those who need them across New South Wales,” said Hitter. Neither of his parents finished elementary school and they each had two jobs sending hitters to a good school. “Diphtheria is very rare in Australia because of our long-standing childhood vaccination programme. Previously, Brendan was Deputy Secretary of the Department of Justice, which led key criminal and civil justice reforms, including sentencing reforms, key reforms to domestic violence, services for victims of crime, and Indigenous communities, including Indigenous criminal courts. “Ms. Hitter has earned the respect and support of the Board of Directors. Their dedication and passion for the cause of legal aid will ensure our continued success in serving the community and providing access to justice,” said Mr. Smith.
He has worked extensively on offender reform, the introduction of restorative justice and community practices, and has led extensive work in the area of crime prevention. Craig Smith, Chairman of Legal Aid NSW, welcomed Hitter to this role and acknowledged the respect and support she had received from the Board. Close contacts of children received post-exposure prophylaxis, which may include antibiotics and vaccines to reduce the risk of transmission. “He set us on a really ambitious reform path, and I learned a lot from him as his deputy.” “Starting today, one of Australia`s best-known landmarks will celebrate our Indigenous people, commemorating our nation`s rich history every day,” Perrottet said. “I really felt like I landed in exactly the right place,” she said. “Our country`s history is rich and enduring, and constantly flying the Indigenous flag over the Sydney Harbour Bridge is a celebration and recognition of that. Indigenous Affairs Minister Ben Franklin said the $25 million announced in the New South Wales budget to place a third permanent mast on the Sydney Harbour Bridge will instead be allocated to Indigenous initiatives. “As always described, the process of installing a third mast over one of Australia`s busiest transport corridors has always been difficult and this decision ensures that the Aboriginal flag can remain permanent,” said Ms Ward. “It`s amazing to see how, as an organization, we continue to put our customers and employees first.” “My parents had some really traumatic stories and instilled in me very strong values of fairness and justice,” she told LSJ.
“It is a great privilege to lead Legal Aid NSW, to serve and make a meaningful difference to the people and communities who need us most across New South Wales,” said Ms Hitter. Monique Hitter takes over with immediate effect, replacing former CEO Brendan Thomas. Ms. Hitter began her career as a social worker before joining Legal Aid on a temporary contract as a junior lawyer in one of its regional offices. “Honouring this commitment is part of our ongoing commitment to recognize Indigenous history, culture, excellence and achievements, and is a worthy conclusion to NAIDOC Week 2022.” The North Coast Public Health Unit has confirmed a second case of neck diphtheria in a six-year-old child in northern New South Wales. The Aboriginal flag will fly permanently on the Sydney Harbour Bridge following NAIDOC Week celebrations, complementing a commitment made by the New South Wales Government earlier this year. Brendan Thomas is a Wiradjuri man. Brendan was appointed by the Attorney General of New South Wales and took up his duties as Chief Executive of Legal Aid NSW in May 2017. Although no other cases of phthalngeal diphtheria have been reported in New South Wales since the 1990s, other less severe cases of diphtheria have been reported in rare cases, mainly affecting the skin. “Ms.
Hitter has a deep understanding of Legal Aid NSW`s core and unique responsibility to ensure access to justice for vulnerable people, including people with mental health issues, people with developmental disabilities, the elderly, and people living in remote and regional areas.” I love the work we do and the way we do it. Our employees are so committed and motivated to do their best for our customers. “As a company, we are incredibly resilient and can adapt to challenges such as lockdown, bushfires and recent floods. Diphtheria is a contagious vaccine-preventable disease that spreads primarily through respiratory droplets in close contact with a person carrying the bacteria. “Our lawyers and staff often go the extra mile for their clients,” Hitter acknowledged. She says her focus in the most senior position is on services to meet the needs of clients who use the resources at their disposal. He emphasized the importance of Legal Aid`s relationships with its partners in the delivery of services such as private physicians, community legal centres and Aboriginal Legal Services. “I am proud to be part of the government that will permanently fly the Indigenous flag over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and I am delighted that another investment is being made to achieve real results for Indigenous people across New South Wales. Hitter has been CEO since November 2021. During this time, she experienced the resilience of her employees and customers. “This builds on the New South Wales Government`s commitment to improve outcomes for Indigenous peoples in New South Wales, following $716 million invested in this year`s budget to prioritise initiatives to close the gap,” Franklin said. Dr.
Paul Douglas, director of public health for the North Coast, said the risk to the wider community is low. Following Hitter`s appointment as CEO, New South Wales Attorney General Mark Speakman praised his outstanding record on justice for vulnerable people. Ms Hitter has been Deputy Chief Executive of Legal Aid NSW since November 2021. Her career at Legal Aid NSW spans over 20 years, including 15 years in senior management and four years as Deputy Managing Director. This child is a close family contact of the first case announced yesterday. The child, who has not been vaccinated against diphtheria, is currently being treated at a hospital in the local health district of northern New South Wales, where he has been admitted as a precautionary measure. “I am also determined to contribute as much as possible to achieving the gap goals.” “We need to make sure they take care of themselves and that we help them find a work-life balance while working at Legal Aid. “However, this is a very serious disease that can be fatal, so families need to be vigilant and check the vaccination status of their children in the Australian vaccination registry or with their medical provider to ensure they are up to date with all vaccinations,” said Dr Douglas.
