Laws on Barking Dogs in Florida

Landlords who rent their property may be responsible for their tenant`s dog or animals. Please remind tenants to keep their dogs and other pets quiet, as the landlord is ultimately responsible for paying fines. Please include noisy birds. Keep dogs barking inside, muzzled or trained not to bark, otherwise you risk being punished every time the police come to your home and hear dogs barking or noisy animals. To report an annoying animal under this order (dog barking or cat meowing), you must have affidavits from two unrelated people at different locations within 1,000 feet of the noise source. Please note: Our agency does not respond to anonymous complaints about annoying barking or whining dogs. Frequent barking, howling or grinding by a dog, cat or bird left outside on the deck or near an open window that can be heard at a distance of one hundred feet (100) from the building, structure or yard where the animal is located is a violation of the Noise Ordinance. The Palm Beach County Order allows an animal control officer to investigate an alleged complaint regarding dog barking after providing two (2) affidavits to the Animal Care and Control Department.
