The program provides a lifeline for Massachusetts residents looking for answers to their legal questions who can`t afford a lawyer or may not know where to turn for legal assistance. LawHelpNY lists more than 600 free legal services projects and organizations with their contact and admission information, as well as more than 4,000 Know Your Rights and self-help resources covering 16 areas of law. LawHelpNY.org is also available in Spanish. There are many free legal services that are also available online, but we highly recommend taking all online advice with a grain of salt. The law varies from state to state, and those who provide legal advice often have different opinions and may not even be allowed to practice law. Volunteer lawyers are able to answer your questions outside of normal business hours – you don`t have to go to a clinic or legal aid office. Seniors Care Locator – Enter your postal code to find local offices for legal and aging organizations. Twice a year, in the fall and spring, the MBA organizes a Western fair. Dial-A-Lawyer, where residents of Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties have the opportunity to have their legal questions answered by local volunteer lawyers. The program is co-funded by Western New England University School of Law, The Republican, El Pueblo Latino, the Massachusetts Association of Hispanic Attorneys and the Hispanic National Bar Association. The phone number, date and time of these events will be published in the local newspaper and announced by the MBA a few weeks before the event. Everyone should have access to a lawyer to help them overcome legal problems. Veterans Legal Assistance – Find free legal clinics and other resources from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The City Bar Justice Center Legal Hotline provides legal information, advice, and recommendations to low-income New Yorkers who can`t afford a private lawyer or don`t have access to legal representation. The helpline can help you with civil law matters, including matrimonial and family law, housing law, domestic violence, bankruptcy, debt collection and benefits. Federally funded legal aid offices provide lawyers who are experts in helping low-income people with legal problems. National Disability Rights Network – Find legal advice providers by state for people with disabilities. Upsolve – Find free legal help to declare bankruptcy. Each year, the ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service offers the Summer Associate Challenge to law firms that provide pro bono legal services through ABA Free Legal Answers. Free Legal Answers is a virtual legal advice clinic. Eligible users post their civil law question on their state`s website. Lawyers provide basic legal information and advice without expecting long-term representation. The website improves access to advice and information on non-criminal matters for those who cannot afford a lawyer.
